I had had a very difficult time with several areas of my life running into difficulty all at once; relationship break-up, career problems, bereavement, illness, parents and their nonsense etc. I had lost confidence and generally wasn't coping with life too well. I wanted to learn to be on my own comfortably & have the confidence to make positive changes in my life.
I found counselling incredibly helpful in many ways. I needed a calm place in which I could explore difficult feelings & Helene created a neutral, non-judgemental environment where I could explore any thoughts or feelings and learn to notice & understand patterns I had developed through my life. Helene was calm and thoughtful & gently helped me in the direction of a better self-realisation.
I now understand myself better & can make confident decisions without judging myself too harshly. I have since changed my career, bought my own flat & learnt to let go of other people’s issues instead of carrying the burden with me. Most importantly I have now created a method of learning how to just observe my life & myself uncritically and understand how to trust my instinct and be more calm.

I had no emotional certainty about anyone – not my wife or my new love. Only for my child, which in turn brought on acute sudden depressions. This feeling was accentuated by the emerging sense that not just the present, but also the past, were troubling me and that this past had much to do with the current inability to see anything clearly. As I described it to Helene at the time, it was like trying to find a way through a very dense forest. I couldn’t see the wood for the trees…
This year of support with Helene has been immensely and profoundly helpful, enriching and rewarding. I have learned much about myself – my strengths as well as my emotional frailties, and have sensed the development of a more mature inner self. I have come to terms with much about my personal history, and found myself far less angry about things that would have caused anxiety in the quite recent past. I have found a way to comprehend my feelings, live more truly in the present, and appreciate the healing and considerational qualities of time, which I now believe offers many answers, if we’re prepared to listen to its deeper and largely unseen rhythms.
What I felt was given to me slowly over the year, which I described to Helene, was an ‘emotional toolkit’. I realized that positive change is not about being some new kind of improved super-person, but about living with and listening to all parts of oneself – the good and the bad, the light and the dark. This has allowed me to experience a deeper inner calm, a more realistic positivity & has opened my eyes to a renewed creative direction.

Counselling was
crucial in helping me
through a difficult time.
Helene's rare ability to
crystallise what I felt,

developed naturally,
never feeling over-

moments of profound
healing, insight, and even
humour. I have come
